Show Notes

Baseball coaches have long debated how much of this game is truly mental - is it 90, 95, or even 99 percent? If that is the case, it is time to connect our listeners to loyal ABCA member Dr. Bhrett McCabe from The Mind Side. Playing for and being mentored by ABCA Hall of Famer and legendary LSU skipper Skip Bertman, McCabe learned early in his career that training the mental game was not only paramount to success but a focus that he wanted to dedicate his career toward. In this episode, McCabe takes us on a journey through defining his position on sports psychology, the role that coaches play, mental toughness, and investing in the person first. McCabe also develops his thoughts on self belief and how this can be viewed differently from the hitter and pitcher. He delivers tangible takeaways that can help any coach further his practice plans to bring mental training material to the dugout and into their programs.
