We put a different spin on the Father and Son episodes of the ABCA Podcast with Jake Boss Jr, head coach at Michigan State, and Jake Boss Sr. From 2008-12, Boss Sr. was Boss Jr.’s assistant coach. Boss Sr. coached baseball and football at Lansing Everett High School for 23 years and coached at Lansing Catholic High School as well. He mixed in college and high school coaching after that with stops as an assistant at Eastern Michigan, Alma College and Michigan State. Boss Jr. has been the head coach at Michigan State since 2008. His 333 wins in 11 seasons are the most in program history over any 11-year time span. Michigan State was Big Ten champ in 2011 and a regional participant in 2012. He was head coach at Eastern Michigan in 2008, winning the MAC West and going to the Regionals for the first time since 2003. We discuss Boss Sr.’s favorite memories as an assistant for Boss Jr. at Michigan State, hit on their experience together with Boss Jr. playing for Sr. in high school, their mentors along the way and both of their long histories in the game.
