This week’s podcast focuses on Travel Baseball with the Orlando Scorpions Baseball Club, an organization that has made a huge shift in how they provide value for their players moving forward. We sit down with President and CEO Bob Rikeman and Director of Baseball Operations Matt Gerber to hear what these positive changes will be and what that means for the perception and current model of Travel Baseball. The Scorpions are stepping outside of the current tournament model and adopting their own development model that includes a focus on training and development for the entire organization during the month of June before playing in a few select tournaments in the remainder of the summer. We hear about the value that they think it will bring to the players in their skill development, recruiting process, how it will positively effect the parents and their costs, enhance the experience and evaluation efforts for college coaches and scouts, how this will develop from within and raise up the current Scorpion coaches and overall, be a huge win for all involved.
